I have only done a couple of tests but it appears that a web link can be added to basis boxes of other than type "Web". I wanted to see whether I could add a link to an existing Quote.

It seems to work OK. The web text is added at the bottom of the Quote box and the link functions normally.

Is this a safe practice? Any reason not to do it?

yes, you can add an url to any type of box.
