Abstract Québec, one of the provinces of Canada, has a pretty stable percentage of the population (between 40 to 45%) who wants it's independance. For some 30 years, a referendum was the commonly agreed way to make this important decision. A political think tank, le RIQ (Rassemblement pour l'indépendance du Québec) has another proposition: a double majority election (votes and MPs). On RIQ's website, one can find the argumentation about this proposal. I made a Rationale map of this (Reasoning mode only, for now). This map will be published on RIQ's website as well. I want to explore how a political group will use this to expose their thinking in a very transparent way. It can be good if their thinking is solid and then can be further improved. The clarity of thinking exhibited to all by a Rationale map can obviously be a double edge sword. We'll see. The rest of this page, the Rationale map and everything else will be in French since this is the audience for this topic. Furthermore, writing in French will allow other people to have an easier access to the fantastic and very practical world of argument mapping. In this spirit, I'll copy or link to some of my blog's texts to introduce other readers to argument maps. Contexte Le Québec, une des provinces du Canada, compte un pourcentage stable de la population (entre 40 et 45%) qui veut son indépendance. Depuis une trentaine d'années, un référendum était le moyen proposé pour prendre cette importante décision. Un groupe de réflexion politique, le RIQ (Rassemblement pour l'indépendance du Québec) propose autre chose: une élection décisionnelle à double majorité (votes et députés). Sur le site du RIQ, on peut y trouver l'argumentaire derrière cette proposition (principalement ce texte). J'en ai réalisé une carte Rationale (en mode raisonnement seulement, pour l'instant). Cette carte sera également disponible sur leur site. Je veux explorer l'effet d'exposer clairement un argumentaire dans le contexte d'une discussion politique. Si une proposition est solide, elle peut être améliorée. Sinon, elle peut être malmenée. Je crois, d'une façon ou d'une autre, que le débat ne peut être que plus constructif. |
